FD Recruit are working exclusively with a leading B2B distributor of outdoor and leisure products to recruit an experienced Finance Director who can deliver strong financial leadership and strategic advice in partnership with the Managing Director.

This 'doer, not a delegator' role requires hands-on management of accounts, cashflow, budgeting, VAT, and company secretarial duties, with a focus on growth and an Employee Ownership Trust after 1 year. On-site in the South West, near Bath.

Qualifications

• 5 year post qualified accountant requirement
• Qualified member of CIMA, ACCA, ACA or ICAEW
• SME commercial oriented finance experience preferred
• Able to operate as a hands-on member of a small team

• Monthly management accounts production
• Cashflow and banking forecasts (daily)

FD Recruit are working exclusively with a leading, B2B distributor of high quality outdoor and leisure products, to source an experienced Finance Director who can hit the ground running and provide strong, steady financial leadership and be instrumental in driving the business forward in conjunction with the Managing Director, following the retirement of the current long standing incumbent. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team you will offer not only financial guidance, but also commercial and strategic advice and liaise closely with external advisors.

This is a role for someone who is a 'doer, not a delegator' and has done it before, knows what \"good\" looks like and wants to get under the skin of a business and be instrumental in its growth and success.

Key responsibilities

• Financial accounts for audit and statutory purposes
• Commercial support to business, employees and Managing Director
• Monthly Management accounts production
• Cashflow and banking Forecasts (daily)
• Annual planning process
• Forecasting of year end outturn
• Management of Insurance, renewals, compliance, claims.
• International payments (daily)
• VAT return - production, sign off, submission.
• Management of banking and Confidential Invoicing relationships
• Forex forward planning and Management - Circa £5M P.A equivalent
• International payments and bacs authorisations
• Financial support to Employee Ownership Trust
• Company secretarial, Companies House, Board meetings, minutes
• Management of Extended producer responsibility tax (New requirement)
• Ad hoc tasks and projects
• Fleet Management and leasing
• Management of Purchase ledger, Payroll, admin staff member
• Management of Credit controller and Cashbook staff member
• Many of these tasks will be more automated and easier following the introduction of Microsoft Dynamics.

Skills, experience and personal attributes

• 5 year post qualified accountant, a Qualified member of either CIMA, ACCA, ACA or ICAEW.
• Career as a Commercial orientated accountant in a private sector company (Not public sector / charities sector / audit / or other nonprofit making organisation), ideally a SME company (to avoid a \"narrow responsibility\" big company role).
• To see themselves as a member of a small team (17 people) and happy to complete roles at all levels, rather than view themselves as a director and above necessary tasks, with ability to assist and manage ambitious growth.
• Knowledge of Sales, Marketing, appropriate IT skills.
• A self-starter who can land quickly, read a business and start adding value quickly; doer not a delegator.
• Strategic yet hands-on
• Calm, steady and credible under pressure, particularly during periods of change or ambiguity
• Commercially curious - genuinely interested in the product, the customer and the operation, not only the numbers
• A clear and accessible communicator, collaborative and adaptable
• Comfortable operating within an owner-led business
• Enjoy an outdoor sport or activity which compliments the Brands we represent

Our client is offering a generous remuneration package including a substantial basic wage of £80k-£100k (based on experience and qualifications) plus bonus based on performance and growth of the business against targets and entry into the Employee Ownership Trust after 1 years service.

The Finance Director will ideally be based in the South West (within an hour of Bath) and will predominantly be required to be on site (especially in the initial stages of the role) to get under the skin of the business and forge crucial relationships with direct reports and key stakeholders.
