Job summary

Jane Gorse Recruitment Limited is recruiting a Head of Finance / Finance Director for a private equity‑backed software and digital business. This hands‑on leadership role partners with the CEO and Board to steer growth.

You’ll lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and governance, with M&A due diligence and post‑acquisition integration as you build a scalable finance function. Location: predominantly remote with travel to Milton Keynes, London and Manchester; salary

Qualifications

• A recognised accountancy qualification: ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• At least five years’ post‑qualification experience, including senior finance experience in industry.
• Experience within a high‑growth, entrepreneurial or rapidly scaling SME.
• Experience working in a private equity‑owned or private equity‑backed business.
• Exposure to acquisitions, mergers, investments, financial due diligence or post‑acquisition integration.
• The ability to combine strategic thinking with a hands‑on approach.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work closely with the CEO, Board and senior leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Leading financial reporting across the Group, delivering accurate, timely and insightful management information.
• Owning the annual budget, rolling forecasts and long‑term financial planning.
• Producing monthly management accounts, Board packs, performance dashboards and KPI reporting.
• Analysing performance, margins, variances and key business drivers, translating findings into practical recommendations.
• Overseeing statutory accounts, tax compliance and financial filing requirements, working with external advisers.
• Managing cash flow, liquidity and working capital to support business performance and growth.
• Strengthening financial controls and governance across the Group.
• Improving finance systems, data quality, automation and reporting processes.
• Building a scalable finance function to support organic growth and acquisitions.
• Supporting M&A activity, including financial due diligence and post‑acquisition integration.

£90,000–£110,000 | Predominantly remote, with regular travel to Milton Keynes, London and Manchester

Help shape the next stage of growth for a private equity-backed software and digital business.

I’m partnering with an ambitious, PE-backed SME to recruit a qualified Head of Finance / Finance Director to work closely with the CEO and Board as the Group continues to grow.

This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity combining ownership of the finance function with a significant role in business strategy, acquisitions and long‑term value creation. You’ll provide clear financial insight, strengthen controls and build the systems and processes needed to support a growing Group.

The opportunity

Location and working arrangements

The role is predominantly remote, with regular travel to Milton Keynes, London and Manchester. You must be based within practical travelling distance of Milton Keynes and London to attend regular senior leadership meetings.

Salary: £90,000–£110,000 per annum
