Isca Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Finance Director for a unique creative UK-based portfolio business operating globally. This is not a typical Finance Director role; you will be working in a growing, purpose-driven, entrepreneurial business where no two days are the same!

This is a crucial new role in the senior leadership team requiring a blend of technical, commercial, and people skills. You will be hands-on with operational finance, providing financial leadership and strategic input, working closely with the Co-CEOs and the business founder during a period of transformation and growth.

Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 pa + benefits
Location: Home-based in the South West of England (Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Cornwall)
Hours: Mon-Fri, full-time, with some flexibility to meet business and personal needs
Start Date: ASAP
Travel: Occasional travel to Devon, London, Scotland, and the US as needed

Finance Director Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all aspects of operational finance with a small team.
2. Shape and build the finance function to meet current and future business needs, including mentoring, development, and recruitment.
3. Collaborate with the founder, leadership team, and senior stakeholders as a strategic business partner and financial advisor.
4. Provide financial leadership, insights, and strategic input to ensure financial health, stability, and growth.
5. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including global tax returns.
6. Manage cash flow and monitor projections.
7. Lead the annual budgeting process and manage budgets and forecasts.
8. Develop financial models for new opportunities, assessing viability and risks.
9. Support budget holders in understanding financial data and ensure accurate cost allocations.
10. Collaborate with operational management on forecasting and sales monitoring.
11. Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
12. Develop and implement financial strategies and operational plans, including funding requirements.
13. Drive profitability through financial oversight of projects from inception to implementation.
14. Build relationships with banks, customers, investors, auditors, and tax consultants.
15. Identify and resolve business risks and opportunities, and continuously improve processes and systems.

Person Specification:

1. A proactive, versatile qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) with experience in start-up or entrepreneur-led businesses, preferably in creative, subscription, or e-commerce sectors.
2. Strong commercial skills with the ability to see the bigger picture and plan ahead, while being hands-on for timely reporting.
3. Experience in multinational businesses, especially UK and US markets, is preferred.
4. Excellent technical accounting skills, including knowledge of tax (Global Sales Tax, UK VAT, Global VAT, VAT MOSS).
5. Strong communication skills capable of inspiring and influencing, with the ability to tailor complex financial information for different audiences.
6. Team player with a collaborative approach across all levels of the organization.
7. Tech-savvy with experience in software such as Xero, WooCommerce, and PayPal is desirable.
8. Interest in professional development, transformational work, self-development, and an appreciation for creativity is highly valued.
