Job summary

Lloyd Barnes Recruitment is recruiting a Finance Director for a leading South West FMCG business in Devon. This board-level role requires strategic financial leadership, governance and strong operational support, reporting to the Managing Director.

You will oversee finance and IT functions, drive growth, and lead a high-performing team while ensuring regulatory compliance and robust controls. Excellent package includes car, bonus and LTIP.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
• Finance Director or FC/Head of Finance experience in UK FMCG.
• Experience in FMCG and UK financial compliance.
• Board or senior executive experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategy to support profitable growth and shareholder value.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and long-term modelling.
• Oversee monthly management accounts, statutory accounts, tax computations and KPI reporting.
• Maintain strong financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing finance team and oversee IT.
• Build relationships with auditors, banks, lawyers and other external stakeholders.

Finance Director

Location: Devon, South West England

Salary: Up to £125,000 + Car + Bonus + LTIP

Role type: Permanent, Full-time, Board-level appointment

We have been retained by a leading South West FMCG manufacturing business to recruit an experienced, commercially focused Finance Director to join its Board and senior leadership team. This pivotal appointment will shape the financial direction of the business, drive sustainable growth, and lead both the Finance and IT functions.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will play a central role in strategic decision-making and long-term planning, providing financial leadership, robust governance, and strong operational support. This is a hands-on, board-level role for a proven leader who combines strategic thinking with practical delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic objectives and long-term planning as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.


• Develop and implement financial strategy to support profitable growth, sustainability, and shareholder value.


• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modelling.


• Oversee monthly management accounts, statutory accounts, tax computations, KPI reporting, and performance analysis.


• Maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures to protect company assets.


• Strong Business Partnering experience.


• Oversee treasury, cash flow forecasting, working capital, and banking relationships.


• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, tax, and financial reporting obligations.


• Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing finance team.


• Oversee the IT function, ensuring systems and data are secure, reliable, and efficient.


• Build strong relationships with auditors, banks, lawyers, and other external stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified Accountant – ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.


• Proven Finance Director experience, or significant FC/Head of Finance experience within UK FMCG.


• Prior FMCG experience is essential.


• Strong understanding of UK legislation and financial compliance requirements.


• Board or senior executive experience, or clear readiness for Board responsibility.


• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.


• Strong analytical ability and the ability to interpret complex data to support strategic decisions.


• Demonstrable success in business partnering and influencing stakeholders.


• Strong ERP experience.


• Company Secretarial experience
