Job summary

You will lead the team responsible for key financial controls, including bank reconciliations and main accounting system reconciliations, and contribute to VAT returns and statutory accounts. You will collaborate with senior managers and external partners to influence decisions, drive improvements, and ensure compliance with complex financial regulations.

• Strong understanding of financial systems and control functions.
• Experience overseeing financial controls and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the team managing key financial controls including the Council’s bank account reconciliations and main accounting system reconciliations.
• Support the VAT return and input to the production of statutory accounts.
• Work closely with senior managers and external partners to influence decision‑making and drive continuous improvement.
