Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited in Leeds is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial control across construction and infrastructure projects. You will manage month-end close, balance sheet integrity, and robust reporting, partnering with operational leaders to drive performance.

The role oversees budgeting, forecasting and project accounting, mentors a small finance team, and ensures governance and compliance while delivering commercial insights to improve margins.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
• Experience as Financial Controller or Senior Finance partner in construction, infrastructure or project-based environment.
• Strong in financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience managing project accounting, including work in progress, CVRs, revenue recognition and project profitability.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close process, delivering accurate management accounts and high-quality financial reporting.
• Take ownership of balance sheet, P&L and overall financial integrity of the business.
• Produce dashboards and KPI reporting to support operational and strategic decision making.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to provide commercial insight and recommendations that improve financial performance.
• Take full financial responsibility for a portfolio of construction and infrastructure projects.
• Oversee project reporting, including work in progress, CVRs and revenue recognition.
• Monitor project performance, identifying financial risks and opportunities while supporting project teams to improve outcomes.
• Manage project cash flow forecasting, working capital and debt management activities.
• Maintain a strong financial control environment and ensure governance compliance.
