Job summary

The Pet Vet in Rotherham is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to join our Central Support Team. You’ll lead day-to-day financial management, month-end, management accounts, cash, payroll and strong controls, with a focus on profitability and cash flow.

Reporting to the Fractional Finance Director and CEO, this role offers clear progression towards Finance Director as the business grows and features hybrid working, two days per week at our Rotherham Central Services Unit and

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strategic, commercial outlook.
• Experience: >4 years as Finance Manager or 2–3 years as Financial Controller.
• Strong Excel and analytics with ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead Finance Assistant, Assistant Management Accountant and Payroll Administrator.
• Oversee month-end, management accounts, payroll, transactional accounting and reconciliations.
• Provide clear financial reporting and practical recommendations.
• Manage cash forecasting, payments and covenant reporting.
• Strengthen financial governance, systems, processes and controls.
• Collaborate with leadership on budgets, forecasts and new-surgery business cases.
• Coordinate statutory accounts and year-end audit with external advisers.
• Drive finance projects and continuous improvement across the business.
