Athwal Resourcing are exclusively recruiting an operational hands-on Finance Controller for a Telford subsidiary of a blue-chip multinational manufacturing group. This is an exciting opportunity to take full financial control of the subsidiary, contribute to operational and commercial decision-making, and work closely with the Finance Director and Board to improve financial performance and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial control & reportingdeliver accurate ledgers and payroll administration; produce the full monthly management accounts pack (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, variance analysis) and board commentary.
• Group control & reportingdeliver suite of monthly reporting to Group headquarters in Europe.
• Operational & commercial insightmaintain KPI dashboards, sales & margin profitability analysis by customer/product group/product, and present performance drivers to the senior leadership team.
• Costing & stockown standard costing, WIP and stock management; analyse labour, material and overhead variances; ensure robust product-cost data and advise on new-product quotations.
• Budgeting, forecasting & cashlead annual budgets, rolling forecasts and weekly cash-flow modelling; manage working capital across a multi-currency export environment.
• Process & systems improvementstreamline processes, strengthen the control environment, champion continuous improvement.
• Compliance & external liaisonmanage year-end statutory accounts, audits, VAT/Intrastat, company-secretarial matters and banking relationships.
• Leadershipdevelop and mentor a small team of finance clerks and an accounts assistant, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
• Ad-hoc initiativespartner directors on strategic, operational and commercial projects that enhance productivity and profitability.
• Microsoft Dynamics Implementationplay key project role in ERP system changeover from SAPB1 in line with Group system platform changes

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACMA, ACCA) or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on finance leader in manufacturing/engineering, ideally as site No. 1 or No. 2.
• Deep knowledge of standard costing, stock control, BoMs, ideally with process costing exposure,
• Track record of improving processes and controls.
• Familiar with European Group reporting to European headquarters
• Advanced Excel skills plus solid ERP experience (SAP or MS Dynamics preferred).
• Commercially astute, proactive and comfortable challenging the status quo.
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills at all levels.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop finance teams.
