Job summary

The University of Liverpool is recruiting a Finance Business Partner - Systems to join our Finance Systems Team during a period of major transformation. Responsibilities

• Provide first-line support for finance systems queries and issues.
• Assist with finance process enhancements and testing activities.

• Document processes and controls to support standardisation.
• Deliver training to finance and non-finance colleagues.

Hours of work: Full-time - 35 hours per week

Tenure: Fixed term until December 2027

Hybrid Working: 2 days/week on Campus or minimum requirement of 40% on Campus, with 60% considered desirable where possible

The University of Liverpool is seeking a motivated and collaborative Finance Business Partner - Systems to join our Finance Systems Team at a pivotal time of change and transformation.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of major finance systems initiatives, including the migration of our Unit4 ERP platform to the cloud, enhancements to finance and procurement processes, improved reporting capabilities, and the introduction of a new Chart of Accounts.

What You'll Be Doing

As a member of the Finance Systems Team, you will:

• Support the delivery of the University's Unit4 cloud migration project.


• Work with Finance, Procurement, IT Services and business stakeholders to analyse requirements, manage change and deliver improvements.


• Provide first-line support for finance systems queries, process issues and configuration errors.


• Assist with the implementation of finance process enhancements,


• Coordinate and support system testing activities and issue resolution.


• Help maintain and enhance management information tools, dashboards and reporting capabilities.


• Monitor data quality and support ongoing data validation and cleansing activities.


• Document finance system processes, procedures and controls to support standardisation and knowledge sharing.


• Deliver training and guidance to finance and non-finance colleagues.


• Lead and contribute to finance systems improvement projects across the University.


• Build effective relationships with system suppliers, IT Services and business users to promote best practice and continuous improvement.

About You

We're looking for someone who can combine finance knowledge with strong systems and stakeholder management skills.

Essential Requirements

You will have:

• Experience working within a Higher Education finance environment.


• Strong understanding of finance and procurement systems and how data flows between systems.


• Experience working collaboratively across teams and organisational boundaries.


• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and delivering change.


• Financial accounting knowledge and experience of financial systems.


• Degree-level qualification (or equivalent).


• A recognised accounting qualification or be actively working towards one (CCAB or CIMA).


• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.


• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
