Job summary

Sheridan Maine is partnering with an established business in Wimborne to recruit a Finance Business Partner. This role combines hands-on financial reporting with forward‑looking analysis and business partnering to support commercial decisions and performance.

You'll work closely with operational leaders, contribute to budgeting and forecasting, and help shape strategic projects while maintaining tight financial controls. Hybrid working from Wimborne supported.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant or similar role.
• Strong management accounting experience including month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience analysing revenue, margins, costs and business performance.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted finance partner to operational and commercial teams with guidance and challenge.
• Deliver meaningful financial analysis and performance reporting on revenue, costs and profitability.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning for growth.
• Review project and contract performance, identify risks and opportunities.
• Produce regular management information and KPI reporting including sales and margins.
• Support month‑end reporting and timely delivery of management information.
• Own balance sheet areas like inventory and debtors with strong controls.
• Collaborate across finance and operations to improve reporting and processes.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis for business initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative finance team in a varied and commercially focused role, where you'll work closely with operational and business leaders to provide meaningful financial insight, influence decision-making and support business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted finance partner to operational and commercial teams, providing insight, guidance and constructive challenge.
• Deliver meaningful financial analysis and performance reporting, helping stakeholders understand the key drivers behind revenue, costs and profitability.
• Take an active role in budgeting, forecasting and longer‑term financial planning, supporting business objectives and future growth.
• Review the financial performance of projects and contracts, identifying trends, potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Produce regular management information and KPI reporting, including sales, margins, expenditure and overall financial performance.
• Support the month‑end reporting process, ensuring accurate financial results and timely delivery of management information.
• Take ownership of key balance sheet areas, including inventory and debtors, maintaining strong financial controls.
• Work collaboratively across finance and operational teams to improve reporting, strengthen processes and support commercial decision‑making.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business initiatives and strategic projects.

About You

We're looking for a proactive and commercially astute finance professional who can combine strong analytical skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the business.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous experience in a Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant, Commercial Accountant or similar commercially focused finance role.
• Strong management accounting experience, including month‑end reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• The ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate it clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience analysing revenue, margins, costs and business performance.
• Confidence working with operational managers, providing financial guidance and constructively challenging decisions.
• Excellent Excel skills, strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
• Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, defence or project‑based environment would be advantageous.
• A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA or ACA), or be working towards one.
