The scale of recruitment reflects the opportunities and challenges at Slough. The new Finance team will support the Council in becoming a Best Value authority within two years. You have the chance to be part of this new team and contribute to this goal.

Vacancies

We are seeking energetic and talented finance professionals across various services, including Financial Reporting, Treasury and Capital, Children's Services, Adults, Regeneration Housing and Environment, and Housing Benefits (Revenue and Benefits). We welcome applications from newly qualified professionals or those seeking their next challenge.

Responsibilities

  • Manage financial reporting processes and ensure accuracy of accounts
  • Coordinate and support the Council's capital programmes, including funding
  • Coordinate Medium Term Financial Plan and monthly management reporting
  • Oversee financial operations in adult services
  • Support financial management in Education, including schools and SEND
  • Manage finances for regeneration, housing, and environmental services
  • Support financial management across Public Health & Public Protection services
  • Assist the Chief Executive and S151 officer and their teams in corporate resource management
  • Support services that administer council tax, business rates, and housing benefits

Your Role

  • Provide financial oversight and support across various services
  • Ensure accurate cost monitoring and forecasting
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive service delivery and performance
  • Utilise technology and accounting systems (Microsoft, Agresso) effectively

Your Skills

  • Post-qualification experience in finance; newly qualified professionals are encouraged to apply
  • Chartered qualification preferred but not essential
  • Strong numerical aptitude and ability to communicate financial information clearly
  • Resilient, driven, and passionate about finance
  • Adept with technology and standard accounting tools
