Job description

Department: Finance & Procurement

Salary: Starting from £46,735, rising to £55,755

Closing date: Sunday 06 July 2025

We are looking for a qualified and dynamic Finance Business Partner to join our Management Accounting team.

About The Role

This is a pivotal role that blends technical expertise with strategic insight. You will work closely with the Digital, Data & Technology Group, the Department of Planning, Performance & Strategic Change, and the Department of Sport and Recreation to ensure a robust financial framework is in place for in-year financial monitoring, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. By providing accurate and timely financial data, you will enable departments to make well-informed decisions that align with the University's strategic objectives.

You will also play a key role in supporting strategic projects by developing financial models, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and assessing the financial viability of new initiatives. By delivering clear and actionable financial insights, you will help project teams understand their finances, optimise resource allocation, and enhance project outcomes.

Sitting within the MIS team in Finance and Procurement, you'll play a critical role in ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies, mitigating financial risks, and promoting best practices in financial management.

This position is offered on a full-time, open-ended basis with a hybrid working pattern—working on-site two days per week (once at the Virgil Building, and another day on campus).

About You

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experienced in project accounting and financial modelling
  • Confident and experienced in building relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Technically proficient and able to understand and explain implications of decisions
  • Able to adapt to a changing environment

Experience within higher education, NHS, or the public sector is desirable due to organizational complexity, but not essential. We value strong potential and the right mindset equally.

What We Can Offer You

We consider ourselves a university where diversity is celebrated, respected, and encouraged. With an international reputation and a Silver Athena SWAN award, we believe diversity of experience and background enhances our environment. We encourage applications from all genders, backgrounds, and communities, especially under-represented groups.

Our benefits include:

  • Free counselling services through Health Assured
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
  • Staff discount at Team Bath gym
  • Discounts on postgraduate tuition fees and language courses
  • Generous pension schemes and annual leave with discretionary days
  • Professional development opportunities including Apprenticeships
  • Free entry to the Holburne Museum in Bath
  • Relocation allowance, visa reimbursement, and interest-free loans for immigration expenses

We are committed to expanding our benefits to support our staff. Find out more on our website.
