Our ambition is to be the home of the most powerful, entertaining, and inspiring stories for people all around the world.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join the Technical Accounting team as a Finance Business Analyst, where you'll provide expert accounting guidance across a complex international business. Working closely with the Group Financial Accounting Manager, you'll support statutory reporting, advise on technical accounting matters, and help ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP and reporting requirements. This is a key role influencing accounting decisions, strengthening financial controls, and supporting the delivery of high-quality financial reporting across BBC Studios.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

Our Technical Accounting team sits at the centre of BBC Studios' finance function, partnering with stakeholders across the business on a wide range of accounting and reporting matters. You'll gain exposure to complex commercial transactions, international operations and evolving accounting standards, while working with a collaborative team that values expertise, continuous learning and professional development. It's an excellent opportunity to deepen your technical knowledge and make a visible impact across a global media organisation.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Prepare subsidiary statutory financial statements across the BBC Studios Group, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Act as a key contact for technical accounting queries, providing guidance on complex transactions and the accounting implications of commercial decisions.
  • Review and analyse month-end, quarterly and year-end financial results, reconciliations and balance sheet positions to support a robust control environment.
  • Support Group reporting activities, including year-end submissions, external reporting requirements and audit processes.
  • Assist with monitoring and analysing foreign exchange exposure, hedging activity and related reporting.
  • Deliver technical accounting training and guidance to finance teams across the business as accounting standards and legislation evolve.
  • Support the maintenance and development of accounting policies, processes and controls to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and UK GAAP, and the ability to apply accounting standards in a practical commercial environment.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing or analysing statutory financial statements and associated disclosure requirements.
  • Strong understanding of consolidation principles within a multi-entity or international group environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting issues clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience supporting technical accounting matters within a large, complex organisation.
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange accounting, treasury activities or hedging arrangements.
  • Experience working with SAP S/4HANA, BPC, Workiva or similar finance systems.
  • Experience liaising with external auditors and supporting year-end audit processes.
  • An interest in, or experience within, the media, broadcast, production or television industry.

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.

We appreciate your interest in this position and understand how important this opportunity is to you. Due to the high volume of interest, we may need to close the application period earlier than anticipated. This step is necessary to ensure we can provide a high level of attention and service to all applicants. Thank you for your understanding.
