Job summary

Flow Student, the student accommodation platform of MCR Property Group, is hiring a Finance Assistant in Manchester. You will support day-to-day finance operations, posting rent receipts, reconciling income, and assisting with month-end tasks and VAT/audit preparation.

The role offers exposure to multiple sites, the chance to develop accounting systems knowledge, and a path for professional growth as the finance team expands.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance or accounts role, preferably in property/lettings or multi-site businesses.
• Bank reconciliations and cash allocation experience.
• Sales ledger and credit control experience.
• Understanding of journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills.
• Experience with Sage Intacct or StarRez is desirable.
• AAT qualification or studying, or willingness to study.
• Strong written and verbal communication; highly organised with attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Post and allocate rent receipts and reconcile income between StarRez and Sage Intacct.
• Perform daily/monthly bank reconciliations across multiple companies and bank accounts.
• Manage student deposits and refunds; process invoices and credit notes; assist in collecting arrears.
• Support month-end tasks: journals, accruals, prepayments and schedules; assist VAT and year-end audit prep.
• Process staff expenses and site petty cash; maintain filing and audit trails; respond to queries.
• Provide cover to the purchase ledger and wider finance team as required.
