Job summary

Shearer Associates in Cheltenham is seeking a Finance Assistant to work with the accountant and keep the finance function running smoothly in a friendly, centre-of-town office. The role is office-based, varied, and offers the chance to stamp your own mark on day-to-day financial processes.

You’ll handle purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, nominal coding on Sage 50, payroll assistance, invoicing, debt chasing and petty cash, while supporting the management of a property portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance role, from any sector.
• AAT Level 3 or equivalent (Level 4 would be a bonus)
• Confident on Excel and comfortable with accounting software. Sage 50 is ideal but not essential

Responsibilities

• Run the purchase ledger and prepare payment runs.
• Post and reconcile bank and credit card statements.
• Code and reconcile nominal accounts on Sage 50.
• Help with payroll alongside the team and an external bureau.
• Raise sales invoices and chase overdue debt.
• Look after petty cash.
• Manage the finances for a portfolio of properties: rent, utilities, contracts and renewals
