Job summary

Pertemps Bond in Redditch is seeking a Finance Assistant on a maternity-cover basis (to July 2027) to join a busy finance team. The role focuses on weekly labour payments, subcontractor costs and contract-related financial information, supporting around 500 operatives across multiple projects.

Key duties include processing timesheets, validating records, calculating overtime and posting costs to ERP systems. AAT or related finance qualification would be desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a finance, accounts or financial administration role.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience working with high-volume data and reconciliations.
• Good Excel skills and confidence with large datasets.
• Ability to work accurately to strict weekly deadlines.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• A methodical approach to financial processes and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Processing weekly timesheet information for approximately 500 operatives through the company's workforce management system.
• Validating attendance records, working hours, site allocations and pay rates.
• Calculating authorised overtime, weekend payments and approved payment adjustments.
• Investigating discrepancies, missing information and payment queries.
• Preparing weekly payment submissions for the company's external employment agency.
• Maintaining accurate operative records and ensuring amendments are properly authorised.
• Posting labour costs to the ERP system and allocating costs to contracts and projects.
• Reconciling payment reports and investigating variances.
• Reviewing subcontractor invoices and ensuring charges are accurate and supported.
• Supporting month-end activities, labour cost reconciliations and continuous process improvements.
