Job summary

West Midlands and Worcestershire Perm Hub is seeking a Finance Assistant on a maternity cover basis (until July 2027) based in Redditch. The role supports weekly labour payments for ~500 operatives, with strong emphasis on accuracy, reconciliation, and cost allocation across multiple projects.

Hours are 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday–Friday, within a busy civil engineering finance team. The successful candidate will have finance administration experience, strong numerical and Excel skills, and the

Qualifications

Experience in finance, accounts or financial administration.
Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
Experience handling high-volume data and reconciliations.
Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with large datasets.
Ability to meet strict weekly deadlines and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

Process weekly timesheet information for approximately 500 operatives via the workforce management system.
Validate attendance, hours, site allocations and pay rates.
Calculate overtime, weekend payments and approved payment adjustments.
Investigate discrepancies and payment queries.
Prepare weekly payment submissions for external employment agency.
Maintain accurate operative records and authorize amendments.
Post labour costs to ERP and allocate to contracts/projects.
Reconcile payment reports and investigate variances.
Review subcontractor invoices for accuracy and support.
Support month-end activities and cost reconciliations.
