Job summary

Butler Rose is partnered with a well-established Somerset business to recruit a Finance Assistant for Langport. This role offers exposure across multiple areas of the accounts function and potential support for CIMA studies in a collaborative, long-term career path.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will join a close-knit team handling ledgers, invoicing, payroll assistance, and management accounts prep, with a structured development path in finance.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
• Knowledge of sales ledger, purchase ledger and general accounting processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Good Excel and systems skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate sales and purchase ledger records.
• Processing customer invoices and supplier transactions.
• Reconciling ledger accounts and resolving discrepancies.
• Assisting with payroll processing and employee records.
• Supporting weekly and monthly management accounts preparation.
• Assisting with financial reporting, forecasting and audit requirements.
• Preparing and checking export documentation.
• Liaising with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Providing general support across the finance function as required.
