Job description

Job Title: Finance Assistant

Location: Talke

Working Hours: 9am-5pm

Employment Type: Fulltime; Permanent

Salary: £25,500 Upwards (open to negotiation depending on experience). Happy to disclose exact salary at first point of contact.

Company Overview

My client, based in Talke, is an industry-leading manufacturer renowned for its excellent service, quality products, and supportive employer culture. They are seeking to employ an experienced, highly organized, and proactive Finance Assistant.

Role Responsibilities

  1. Maintain the Accounts Receivable ledger, including invoicing, receipts, credit control, and reporting.
  2. Support cash flow management and customer relationships, working alongside the Finance Controller and Purchase Ledger.
  3. Collaborate with other departments to develop strong working relationships.
  4. Raise accounts receivable invoices and post receipts daily, ensuring accuracy and promptness.
  5. Ensure timely collections in line with company policies.
  6. Produce and distribute monthly customer statements.
  7. Maintain and update customer information in the ledger.
  8. Perform monthly reporting for accounts receivable and key customers.
  9. Assist with invoice production and monitor delivery-note reports.
  10. Upload data for invoice discounting requirements.
  11. Prepare journals for month-end close, including accruals and reconciliations.
  12. Support month-end activities such as bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  13. Conduct routine credit checks on the customer database.
  14. Assist with the annual statutory audit process.
  15. Ensure accurate filing of finance paperwork.
  16. Support the implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  17. Maintain compliance within the quality management system and promote continuous improvement.
  18. Provide general finance and administrative support, including assisting other departments and answering phones.
  19. Perform additional ad-hoc duties within the finance team.

Requirements

Ideally, candidates will be part-qualified (e.g., AAT, CIMA) or qualified by experience. The role requires onsite presence in Talke. Personality and work ethic are as important as experience.
