The Opportunity
Reed Accountancy are supporting a well-established, family-run organisation in the search for an experienced Finance Assistant to join their finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong finance background to join a successful business in a varied role covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, payroll support and general finance administration.
Working within a small and collaborative team, you will contribute to the smooth running of the finance function while supporting wider business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining supplier account records.
- Processing supplier invoices.
- Preparing and processing supplier payments.
- Reconciling supplier statements.
- Resolving supplier queries.
- Processing customer receipts and allocating payments.
- Investigating and resolving customer account queries.
- Maintaining accurate customer records.
- Monitoring outstanding balances.
- Chasing overdue payments.
- Building positive relationships with customers while maintaining effective credit control procedures.
- Assisting with payroll processing activities.
- Maintaining payroll-related records and documentation.
- Supporting month-end processes.
- Assisting with account reconciliations.
- Maintaining accurate financial records.
- Providing administrative support to the wider finance team as required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a finance or accounts environment.
- Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
- Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
- Experience supporting month-end activities.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and Pivot Tables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Team-focused approach.
- Previous experience within a fast-paced commercial environment.
- Payroll processing experience.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
- Understanding of import or international purchasing processes.
- AAT Qualified (or studying too) - desirable
