Job summary

Trial Balance Consulting Ltd. are delighted to support a construction business in recruiting a Finance Assistant in Liskeard. You will join a busy finance team, handling day-to-day accounts and payroll, and work closely with the Finance Director to keep records accurate and ensure timely payments.

The role suits candidates with accounts or payroll experience, comfortable with Sage and Excel, and capable of handling a varied workload in a busy environment. CIS understanding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase and sales ledger transactions.
• Reconcile bank accounts and supplier statements.
• Process supplier invoices, employee expenses and payments.
• Assist with CIS subcontractor invoices, deductions and HMRC verification.
• Support VAT returns and month-end/year-end processes.
• Assist with weekly and monthly payroll for office and site staff using Sage.
• Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate records and financial controls with the Finance Director.

Finance Assistant - Liskeard - salary negotiableDOE

Trial Balance are delighted to be working exclusively with a successful and well-established construction business, who are looking to recruit an experienced Finance Assistant to join their busy and friendly finance team.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing business where you’ll play an important role in supporting both the day-to-day accounts and payroll functions. Working closely with the Finance Director, you’ll be part of a hands‑on team responsible for keeping financial records accurate, ensuring suppliers and employees are paid on time, and helping the wider business run smoothly.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions
• Reconciling bank accounts and supplier statements
• Processing supplier invoices, employee expenses and payments
• Assisting with CIS subcontractor invoices, deductions and HMRC verification
• Supporting VAT returns and month-end and year-end accounts processes
• Assisting with weekly and monthly payroll for office and site-based staff using Sage
• Liaising with HMRC, pension providers, suppliers and subcontractors
• Working closely with the Finance Director to maintain accurate records and effective financial controls

We’re keen to hear from candidates with previous experience in an accounts and/or payroll role, whether qualified by experience or supported by relevant qualifications. You’ll be comfortable using Sage and Microsoft Excel, with a good eye for detail and the ability to manage a varied workload in a busy environment.

Experience gained within the construction sector would be a real advantage, particularly if you have an understanding of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
