Artemis Human Capital is partnering with an established construction and engineering business to recruit an Accounts Assistant based in Carrickfergus. This full-time, permanent role spans subcontractor payments, VAT, CIS and RCT within a busy transactional finance team.

You will support UK and Irish finance operations, ensure accurate payments and timely statutory returns, and build strong relationships with subcontractors and internal teams to maintain compliant, efficient processes across the

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Accounts or Finance role.
• Construction/engineering sector experience is advantageous.
• Strong CIS, RCT and VAT knowledge.
• Experience working with subcontractors and payments.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with subcontractors to maintain bank and CIS details.
• Process sterling and euro invoices for payment through Construct and Sage 200.
• Ensure payments comply with CIS, RCT and VAT requirements.
• Build relationships with the commercial team to pay subcontractors on terms.
• Prepare monthly CIS tax returns to HMRC and RCT returns to the Revenue Commissioners.
• Complete sterling and euro cash flow and bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile UK and Irish subcontractor tax prior to payments.
• Prepare UK, Irish and foreign VAT returns, statistical forms and TSS returns.
• Support wider finance, compliance and administrative duties as required.

Job description

We are delighted to be partnering with an established construction and engineering business to recruit an Accounts Assistant for their finance team based in Carrickfergus.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering a varied role across subcontractor payments, VAT, CIS, RCT, reconciliations and wider transactional finance. You’ll work closely with both the finance and commercial teams, supporting UK and Irish finance operations and ensuring payments and statutory returns are processed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise with subcontractors to maintain accurate bank and CIS details
• Process sterling and euro invoices for payment through Construct and Sage 200
• Ensure payments comply with CIS, RCT and VAT requirements
• Build strong relationships with the commercial team to ensure subcontractors are paid in line with agreed terms
• Prepare and submit monthly CIS tax returns to HMRC and RCT returns to the Revenue Commissioners
• Complete sterling and euro cash flow and bank reconciliations
• Reconcile UK and Irish subcontractor tax prior to payments being made
• Prepare and submit UK, Irish and foreign VAT returns, statistical forms and TSS returns
• Support wider finance, compliance and administrative duties as required

Who We’re Looking For

• Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in a similar Accounts or Finance role
• Previous experience within the construction or engineering sector would be advantageous
• Strong understanding of CIS, RCT and VAT requirements
• Experience working with subcontractors
• Experience using Sage 200
• Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
