Job Title: HR & Welfare Support

Location: Small Heath, Birmingham

Are you passionate about supporting staff wellbeing and fostering a positive working environment within a school setting? Do you have experience in HR or welfare support? Monarch Education is seeking a dedicated HR & Welfare Support to join our team in our Small Heath school.

The ideal candidate will contribute to developing a strong, effective Academy with a focus on promoting a culture of educational excellence within a caring and secure environment, based on the values of discipline, mutual care, and respect, extending into the wider community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage all administrative processes related to the HR function.
  2. Provide administrative support to the resource and business functions of the Academy and its estate.
  3. Support all aspects of business services and provide cover for reception activities.
  4. Handle recruitment and selection processes, including appointments, pay, resignations, absence, and contract changes.
  5. Process personnel and payroll documentation, maintaining staff files in accordance with protocols.
  6. Maintain and update personnel records and management information systems.
  7. Assist with recruitment administration and coordinate interview days.
  8. Prepare paperwork for new starters, including DBS and qualification checks, liaising with the Director of Resources.
  9. Support updating and maintaining the Academy's Single Central Record.
  10. Act as the first point of contact for staff absences and record keeping.
  11. Monitor staff absence, liaise with SLT and the Director of Resources on long-term sickness, and maintain absence records.
  12. Facilitate Occupational Health referrals and process related paperwork.
  13. Administer performance management and CPD requests, and conduct inductions and probation processes.
  14. Handle leaver processes, including exit questionnaires and return of equipment.
  15. Register NQTs and ECTs with the Trust.
  16. Coordinate with external agencies for supply staff, ensuring safeguarding and checks are completed.
  17. Assist with organising cover, trips, and events, and provide administrative support as needed.
  18. Support reception duties, answer queries, and manage records and correspondence.
  19. Support attendance monitoring and liaise with parents regarding absences.
  20. Utilise SIMS modules for attendance and behaviour management.
  21. Administer extended leave requests and free school lunch administration.
  22. Provide first aid, support medical needs, and maintain medical room records.
  23. Ensure confidentiality and compliance with policies on safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
  24. Promote the ethos and values of the Academy and support wider community engagement.
  25. Perform any other duties reasonably required by the Principal or Trust.
