Job description

We are excited to offer a Finance Apprenticeship opportunity for a dedicated and detail-oriented person. The successful candidate will train to play a pivotal role in supporting the preparation of financial reports, variance analysis, cost analysis, and budget forecasts. They will also contribute to month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

What you will train to do...
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including variance analysis, cost analysis, and budget forecasts.
  • Support the financial accounting team in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data, analyze trends, and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial models, spreadsheets, and databases to facilitate efficient data analysis and reporting.
  • Participate in cost control initiatives, identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving measures.
  • Gain exposure to financial systems and software, assisting in data entry, reconciliation, and maintenance of financial records.
  • Engage in ad-hoc projects and tasks as directed by senior members of the financial accounting team, gaining exposure to a wide range of financial activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Direct Liquidity Reporting to Group Treasury on a monthly basis in line with their requirements.
  • Assist with the checking and preparation of VAT returns when required.
  • Carry out and support tax-related projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Complete all related coursework for the apprentice standard.
What we need from you...
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English, level 4 and above.
  • Enthusiasm for pursuing a career in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
