About Us

The Space is Norfolk’s leading conferencing and events centre, and a social enterprise passionate about reinvesting back into our community. We host a wide range of events—from local charity board meetings to national corporate conferences—serving businesses, non-profits, and public sector clients alike.

The Space is operated by Proclaimers, a registered charity that also functions as a vibrant and growing church community in Norwich and Ipswich. Together, we are passionate about creating spaces—both physical and relational—where people and organisations can thrive.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Finance and Office Manager to play a key role in supporting the financial health and operational efficiency of both Proclaimers and The Space. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a purpose-driven organisation with both community impact and commercial ambition.

You will be responsible for overseeing and developing our financial systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the strategic financial planning that underpins our growth. Additionally, you will manage key aspects of office administration and operations, helping to ensure the charity and conferencing centre run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Financial

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank
  • reconciliations, petty cash and payroll coordination.
  • Prepare timely management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Track client payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Assist in budget preparation, financial planning and end-of-year processes.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and HMRC as required.
  • Analyse income streams, generate reports, and refine pricing structures

Office and Operations

  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with all the staff.
  • Oversee administrative systems, supplies, communication, and facilities
  • Manage the weekly work schedule and staff rotas
  • Maintain up-to-date personnel records, contracts, and HR documentation
  • Support the onboarding of new staff
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers
  • Ensure venue presentation and cleanliness meets a high standard

Church and Community Operations

  • Liaise with Proclaimers department leaders to ensure their dedicated storage areas are kept in an appropriate state, and support them to adapt their storage as required.
  • Coordinate Sunday service setup and bookings for church-related events

Events Management and Facilities

Work with the wider Space team to ensure the following:

  • The effective running of events.
  • Set up and configure conference rooms according to specifications.
  • Oversee room setups, tech needs, cleanliness, and general upkeep
  • Monitor ongoing maintenance needs and coordinate improvements
