Job description
Job Purpose

The position is responsible for supporting the organization in ensuring full compliance with the Bangladesh Income Tax Act 2023 and the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act 2012, including filing returns, maintaining documentation, responding to tax authorities, and assisting in day-to-day tax and VAT operations.

Key Responsibilities
Taxation (as per Bangladesh Income Tax Act- 2023)
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of monthly/quarterly withholding tax returns and annual tax returns.
  • Ensure deduction and deposit of tax at source (TDS) on applicable payments such as suppliers, contractors, employees, and service providers.
  • Maintain proper documentation and reconciliations of tax deducted and deposited.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax forecasts, tax provisions, and computation of taxable income.
  • Coordinate with auditors during tax audits and assessments.
  • Keep track of changes in tax laws and notifications and support in implementing necessary adjustments within the organization.
  • Prepare and maintain tax registers, challans, and correspondence files with tax authorities.
Value Added Tax (as per VAT & SD Act, 2012)
  • Prepare and submit monthly VAT return (Mushak:9.1) through VAT online system and ensure timely payment of VAT.
  • Ensure proper VAT deduction at source (VDS), deposit and issue VAT deduction at source certificate (Mushak:6.6).
  • Maintain records like Mushak:6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.7 and 6.8 etc. and ensure correctness and completeness of VAT documentation.
  • Experience of preparing and submitting input-output coefficients (Mushak:4.3).
  • Support during VAT audits and inspections and handle queries from VAT authorities.
  • Ensure all sales, purchases, and import/export transactions are recorded and reported in compliance with VAT laws.
Compliance and Reporting
  • Ensure timely submission of all statutory returns and payments to NBR.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all tax and VAT-related data.
  • Support the finance team during month-end closing and statutory audits.
  • Prepare various management reports related to tax and VAT (e.g. payable summary, return filing tracker, tax/VAT reconciliation statements).

  • Any other tasks assigned by management.

6 days a week (8.30 am to 5.00 pm)
