Job summary

Brent Council is seeking a Finance Analyst on an initial temporary contract for 3-6 months, with a view to extension or permanent placement for the right candidate. Hybrid role based at HA9 0FJ, requiring 3 days in the office.

You will work with large datasets to analyse debt portfolios, council tax, adult social care debt, housing benefit overpayments and sundry debt, producing high-quality MI and actionable recommendations with strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience advising on large budgets within a complex organisation.
• Experience preparing accounting statements and statutory returns.

Responsibilities

• Analyse debt portfolios, recovery activity and customer behaviour to identify trends and opportunities.
• Develop insight-led recommendations and high-quality management information.
• Support delivery of interventions across Council Tax, Adult Social Care debt, Housing Benefit Overpayments and Sundry Debt.

I am currently representing Brent Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Finance Analyst this role will be based at: HA9 0FJ – Hybrid 3 days in office

The right candidate will:

• Working with large and complex datasets, you will analyse debt portfolios, recovery activity and customer behaviour to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• You will be responsible for developing insight‑led recommendations, producing high‑quality management information and supporting the delivery of targeted interventions across areas including Council Tax, Adult Social Care debt, Housing Benefit Overpayments and Sundry Debt.
• The successful candidate will combine excellent analytical capability with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Experience working with local government systems, particularly NEC, Mosaic, Abacus and Oracle Financials, will be highly advantageous, enabling you to quickly interrogate datasets, identify performance gaps and support the delivery of measurable improvements in debt recovery and income collection.

We require the following:

• Experience of providing financial advice and leadership in a large and complex organisation, working with a high degree of professional independence and integrity.
• Experience of advising on managing all aspects of large and complex budgets, delivering significant improvements as a result.
• Experience of preparing accounting statements and statutory statistical returns.
