Finance / Accounting Assistant
Location: South West London (Office based)
Salary: £28,000 - £31,000 per annum plus bonus (Depending on qualifications)

The Role
This role requires an individual who is hands-on, efficient, and eager to learn new processes, offer suggestions for improvements, and help the business adapt to new challenges.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, innovative lighting company headquartered in Chicago, USA.
Key Elements And Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of period-end GL account reconciliations.
- Preparation and processing of month-end journals, accruals, and other adjustments.
- Processing trade creditor invoices and making vendor payments.
- Sending customer invoices.
- Monitoring trade debtors and following up on payments with customers.
- Daily cash reconciliation.
- Assisting with local annual audits and statutory reporting for UK entities, with support from external consultants where applicable.
- Assisting with VAT report submissions for European VAT registrations.
- Supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of financial SOPs.
- Collaborating with inside sales and operations.
- Maintaining vendor and customer master data.
- Verifying the accuracy of business accounts and alerting the accountant to errors.
- Managing employee expense claims.
- Assisting the Accountant with administrative duties and preparing yearly accounts.
Skills And Qualifications
Required Knowledge:
- Relevant financial experience, including general ledger accounting and reporting.
- Experience processing vendor invoices.
- Knowledge of VAT, other taxes, and UK compliance.
- Experience with accounting systems such as Dynamics NAV, Netsuite, or similar.
- Strong Excel skills, including lookup functions, pivot tables, and similar features.
- Experience in credit control and collections.
Skills & Abilities:
- Effective communicator capable of engaging with individuals at all levels.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to report across different time zones, including to leadership in the USA.
Education & Experience
- A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field is beneficial.
- Professional certifications like AAT are advantageous.
- At least 3 years of accounting experience.
