Job summary

DCS Engineering is seeking a Field Service Engineer to maintain and support critical motorway technology across the UK. The role covers electrical and electronic equipment on motorways, including fault-finding, installation and commissioning, with travel across the regional network and occasional night work.

Applicants should have motorway technology experience and the ability to diagnose faults with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience on motorway technology or equipment installed on the motorway network.
• Electrical/electronic fault-finding, maintenance, repair or commissioning.
• Ability to diagnose issues independently and safely.
• Willingness to travel regional sites and work nights.
• Confidence working outdoors, roadside and at height.
• Able to complete a basic DBS check.
• ONC/HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• HERS registration or knowledge of HERS requirements.
• Experience with motorway signs or traffic monitoring equipment.
• Basic IT skills (Word, Excel).
• Experience coordinating subcontractors or supporting project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment on the motorway network.
• Diagnose faults, undertake repairs and test equipment for reliable operation.
• Support installation, testing and commissioning of motorway technology systems.
• Undertake hardware, software and system checks as required.
• Work safely on and alongside motorways, including at height.
• Complete maintenance records, test results and health and safety documentation.
• Liaise with clients, operational teams and subcontractors to coordinate site activities.
• Support the Assistant Project Manager with project delivery and maintenance planning.
• Ensure work meets health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Travel to sites across regional network and undertake night work as required.
