Job summary

Green Recruitment Company is partnering with a rapidly growing clean energy organisation to hire a Field Service Engineer. Based in Bristol, you will commission, maintain and troubleshoot mobile battery energy storage systems across UK sites.

You will travel regularly, provide on-site technical support, and work with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure equipment availability and high service levels. 3+ years in field service or electrical roles, with a valid UK driving licence and fluent

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in field service, maintenance, commissioning, electrical engineering or similar
• Experience with electrical installations, energy systems, BESS, generators or EV charging infrastructure
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, able to work independently
• Based in or near Bristol, willing to travel across the UK
• Valid UK driving licence and fluent English

Responsibilities

• Commission and decommission mobile battery energy storage systems across customer sites
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure battery systems are safe and operational
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, technical and system faults in the field
• Inspect and support installation and deployment of battery systems
• Provide on-site technical support to customers at construction sites, infrastructure projects and events
• Collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure equipment availability and service quality
• Travel regularly to customer and project sites across the UK
• Participate in on-call rotation for technical support and issue resolution
• Identify improvements to maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting and field service processes

With continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, the business is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join its UK Service team. This is an opportunity to play a hands‑on role in commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting battery energy storage systems while supporting the transition towards cleaner temporary power solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Commission and decommission mobile battery energy storage systems across customer sites.

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure battery systems remain safe, reliable, and operational.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, technical, and system‑related faults in the field.

• Conduct inspections and support the installation and deployment of battery systems.

• Provide on‑site technical support to customers across construction sites, infrastructure projects, events, and other locations.

• Work closely with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure equipment availability and a high level of customer service.

• Travel regularly to customer and project sites across the UK.

• Participate in an on‑call rotation, providing technical support when required.

• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field service processes.

Key Requirements

• 3+ years' experience in field service, maintenance, commissioning, electrical engineering, or a similar technical role.

• Experience working with electrical installations, energy systems, BESS, generators, EV charging infrastructure, construction site power, or similar technical environments.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose technical issues independently.

• Comfortable working independently in the field while collaborating closely with wider teams.

• Based in or near Bristol, with willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK.

• Valid UK driving licence.

• Fluent English.

• Strong safety awareness and a practical, hands‑on approach to technical work.
