Job summary

British Solar Renewables (BSR) is seeking a Service Technician to maintain solar PV and battery storage sites across Ipswich and Colchester. This field-based role requires commuting to multiple sites, strong fault finding, and a focus on safety and compliance.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, inspect and log data, and supervise contractors while travel to additional sites is expected. A full UK driving licence and AP/SAP status are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician or Electrical Engineer with strong fault-finding skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Authorised Person (AP) or Senior AP status.
• Experience with solar PV installations, including systems over 50kWp and G59/G99 connections.
• Experience with central inverters such as SMA, Power Electronics, Gamesa, Ingeteam or Sungrow.
• HV switchgear and high-voltage systems experience.
• ECS, SSSTS and valid First Aid certification.
• Experience in utility-scale solar or renewable energy environments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on electrical, communications, mechanical, and safety systems.
• Respond to faults, diagnose issues and undertake repairs to minimise downtime.
• Record site data, inspections, and maintenance logs accurately.
• Supervise and induct contractors, suppliers and visitors on site.
• Travel to other sites as required and participate in training activities.
