Job Description

I am working with a fantastic client throughout the UK and looking to recruit an experienced field service material handling engineer, ideally mechanically biased in the Bristol area. This role offers extensive training and career progression.

Responsibilities for this role include:
  1. Find, diagnose, and rectify faults on customer FLTs as necessary, including ordering spare parts efficiently.
  2. Provide reliable information to customers regarding maintenance, repairs, and equipment use, including updates on repairs.
  3. Ensure all paperwork (job sheets, timesheets, purchase requisitions, parts paperwork) and IT systems are maintained accurately.
  4. Liaise with the Service Controller, customer, and Service Manager to share information about forklifts and equipment.
  5. Propose improvements and ensure Engineering Standards and Safe Working Practices are followed at all times.
  6. Monitor stock levels, movement records, and obtain hour meter readings/site information at each visit.
  7. Maintain company-issued equipment and tools (van, laptop, printer, etc.) in a satisfactory, clean, and safe condition, reporting any failures.
Ideally, to apply for this role you will have:
  1. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related occupation.
  2. Mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical competencies.
  3. A full and valid driving license.
  4. Excellent communication skills for liaising with customers and colleagues.
  5. Sound IT skills, including Word, Excel, and email.
  6. The ability to prioritize, work independently, and as part of a team, with initiative.
  7. A positive, flexible, and can-do attitude.
  8. Previous experience as a forklift technician, plant fitter, or vehicle technician, ideally from motor, plant, or agricultural backgrounds.
