Job description

I am working with a fantastic client throughout the UK and looking to recruit an experienced field service material handling engineer, ideally mechanically biased in the Bristol area. This role offers extensive training and career progression.

Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Find, diagnose, and rectify faults on customer FLTs as necessary, including ordering spare parts efficiently.
  • Provide reliable maintenance information, consult on repairs, and advise on equipment use and updates.
  • Ensure all paperwork (job sheets, timesheets, purchase requisitions) and IT systems are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Liaise with the Service Controller, customer, and Service Manager to share information about forklifts and equipment.
  • Propose improvements and ensure Engineering Standards and Safe Working Practices are followed.
  • Monitor stock levels and movement records; obtain hour meter readings and site information at each visit.
  • Maintain company-issued equipment and tools in good condition and report any failures.
Ideally, to apply for this role you will have:
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related occupation.
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical competencies.
  • A full and valid driving licence.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with customers and colleagues.
  • Sound IT skills, including Word, Excel, and email.
  • The ability to prioritize and work independently or as part of a team, using your initiative.
  • A positive, flexible attitude and a can-do approach.
  • Previous experience as a forklift technician, plant fitter, or vehicle technician, ideally from motor, plant, or agricultural backgrounds.
