Job summary

Escape is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join its growing service team in the UK. You will install, commission, service and fault-find on specialist equipment at customer sites, with regular UK travel and overnight stays.

You will bring a recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or City & Guilds qualification, strong maintenance experience and excellent fault-finding skills, plus a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• City & Guilds or equivalent Mechanical qualification.
• Strong mechanical fitting and maintenance experience.
• Excellent fault-finding skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Willingness to travel and stay away when required.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission mechanical equipment at customer sites.
• Carry out planned maintenance and repairs.
• Perform mechanical fault finding and diagnosis.
• Conduct site inspections and produce survey reports.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation.
• Collaborate with customers and colleagues to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
• Travel throughout the UK, including regular overnight stays, and support workshop activities when required.

Are you a Mechanical Engineer / Field Service Fitter who enjoys hands‑on work, problem solving and travelling to customer sites?

Escape Recruitment is working with an established engineering business that is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join its growing service team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of technically interesting projects while receiving ongoing training and genuine long‑term career development.

This role offers plenty of variety, with time spent installing, commissioning, servicing and fault finding on specialist mechanical equipment at customer sites throughout the UK.

The Role

• Installing and commissioning mechanical equipment on customer sites
• Carrying out planned maintenance and repairs
• Mechanical fault finding and diagnosis
• Conducting site inspections and producing survey reports
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Working closely with customers and colleagues to deliver projects safely and efficiently
• Travelling throughout the UK, including regular overnight stays
• Supporting workshop activities when required
