Job summary

Escape Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its service team in Bristol. The role involves installing and commissioning mechanical equipment on customer sites across the UK, with travel and overnight stays. Salary £35,000–£38,000 with OTE up to £50,000+ and a strong benefits package.

You'll perform planned maintenance, fault finding, and diagnostics, reading drawings, and supporting workshop activities when required. A recognised apprenticeship and driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent.
• City & Guilds (or equivalent) Mechanical qualification.
• Strong mechanical fitting and maintenance experience is essential.
• Excellent fault-finding skills and problem-solving ability.
• Valid UK driving licence is required.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission mechanical equipment at customer sites.
• Carry out planned maintenance and repairs.
• Perform mechanical fault finding and diagnosis.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare survey reports.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with customers and colleagues to deliver projects safely.
• Travel nationwide with regular overnight stays.
• Support workshop activities when required.

Escape Recruitment is working with an established engineering business that is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to join its growing service team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of technically interesting projects while receiving ongoing training and genuine long-term career development.

This role offers plenty of variety, with time spent installing, commissioning, servicing and fault finding on specialist mechanical equipment at customer sites throughout the UK.

The Role

• Installing and commissioning mechanical equipment on customer sites
• Carrying out planned maintenance and repairs
• Mechanical fault finding and diagnosis
• Conducting site inspections and producing survey reports
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Working closely with customers and colleagues to deliver projects safely and efficiently
• Travelling throughout the UK, including regular overnight stays
• Supporting workshop activities when required
