Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support installation, service, maintenance and repair of specialist machinery across the UK. The role is field-based, requiring travel and occasional overseas trips, with a salary around £50,000 basic for a 40-hour week and door-to-door pay.

You will diagnose faults, carry out maintenance, upgrades and installations, and provide technical support at customer sites.

Qualifications

• A full UK Driving Licence.
• Engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience as Field Service Engineer or similar role.
• Strong fault-finding on hydraulic systems and electrical circuits.
• Experience working independently at customer sites.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to complete detailed service documentation.
• Hands-on problem-solving approach.
• Ability to lift up to 40 kg.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance and servicing activities.
• Complete machinery upgrades, modifications and installations.
• Commission equipment and provide technical support to customers.
• Investigate equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
• Dismantle and repair malfunctioning equipment using specialist tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Complete accurate service reports and maintenance documentation.
• Build strong customer relationships and provide a professional service at all times.
• Maintain company tools and test equipment, ensuring they remain safe and fit for purpose.
