Field Service Engineer (North of England)
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to cover the North of England area (predominately Manchester/Leeds/Newcastle). The role involves visiting customer premises for diagnosis, repair, installation, and calibration of garage equipment to ensure customer compliance and satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have a background in automotive services.
The role requires travel, including occasional overnight stays and weekends, though weekends are rare.
Duties include:
- Coordinate workload for effective time management and route planning, aiming to decrease travel time and increase productive work in geographic clusters.
- Ensure calibration of customer equipment aligns with legislative requirements as per service agreements.
- Download all certificates to the correct file location weekly.
- Conduct site surveys before installation, complete full installation and customer training, and sign off with the customer, then upload documentation to the server.
- Respond promptly to unplanned maintenance, adapt plans, and communicate changes to stakeholders.
- Perform fault finding, repairs on breakdowns, and planned preventative maintenance.
- Download all breakdown reports weekly to the correct file location.
- Build strong customer relationships to enhance satisfaction.
- Prioritize quality of service and first-time fix; provide feedback for product or service improvements.
- Work closely with a team of engineers and technicians.
- Stay updated on technology and products, and highlight training needs to line managers.
- Adhere to health and safety policies, company procedures, and the GEA code of conduct.
- Suggest training ideas to improve skills and performance within the team.
Candidate profile:
- Qualified with A Level/BTEC or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in a field service or product support role with problem-solving and customer service skills.
- Mechanical background is essential.
- Full driving license is required.
