Job summary

Fastems is seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer to travel UK-wide and internationally, supporting maintenance, installation, and commissioning of flexible manufacturing systems and Fanuc/robot solutions. You’ll troubleshoot electro-mechanical faults, work with Siemens/Beckhoff PLCs, and deliver practical automation improvements.

You’ll start from the Midlands base, visit customer sites, and enjoy a dynamic, international work environment with opportunities for growth in automation

Qualifications

• Background in service or maintenance.
• Electro-mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens/Beckhoff), CNCs, robotics, or automated manufacturing systems preferred.
• Comfortable with software and Windows-based systems.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel UK and internationally.

• Troubleshooting and repair in electronics, mechanics, I/O, drive technology, PLC (Beckhoff/ Siemens), software, and computers on our flexible manufacturing systems.
• Maintenance and servicing of flexible manufacturing systems and robot solutions (Fanuc).
• Modifications, enhancements, and commissioning of flexible manufacturing systems.
• Support the installation of new automation equipment.
• Assess complex technical requirements and advise customers on solutions.

• Troubleshooting and repair in the areas of electronics, mechanics, I/O, drive technology, PLC (Beckhoff/ Siemens), software, and computers on our flexible manufacturing systems - be the expert who supports our customers.
• Maintenance and servicing of flexible manufacturing systems and robot solutions (Fanuc) – keep our technologies running smoothly.
• Modifications, enhancements, and commissioning of flexible manufacturing systems – play an active role in shaping the future of automation.
• Support the installation of new automation equipment
• Assess complex technical requirements and advise customers on solutions

Requirements

• Background in service or maintenance
• Electro-mechanical fault-finding skills
• Ideally experienced with PLCs (Siemens/Beckhoff), CNC machines, robotics, or automated manufacturing systems
• Comfortable with software and Windows-based systems
• Determination, initiative, and a hands-on attitude
• A full UK driving license
• High flexibility to travel to customers across the UK & internationally (Mo-Fr)
