Job summary

Odin Recruitment Group is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join an established engineering business specialising in industrial equipment, process cooling and automation. The role is field-based across the UK, installing, servicing, commissioning and repairing equipment at customer sites and in-house.

You will diagnose faults in electrical, mechanical and control systems, travel extensively (approximately 20,000–30,000 miles annually) and occasionally abroad.

Qualifications

• Time-served electrical, mechanical or electromechanical apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• City & Guilds Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering qualification.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and repair capabilities.
• Good understanding of electrical control systems, PLCs and automation.
• Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Experience with single/three-phase and low-voltage systems.
• Able to interpret technical information and troubleshoot independently.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel overseas if required.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, commission and maintain industrial equipment and automated systems.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and control faults.
• Carry out breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Provide customer training and technical support after installation.
• Support customers remotely and on-site to resolve issues.
• Produce detailed service reports highlighting faults and improvements.
• Manage and prioritise allocated jobs and service schedules.
• Maintain accurate records in CRM and project systems.
• Build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance.
