Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group seeks a skilled Service Engineer for an engineering business near Exeter. The role combines field-based service work with workshop repairs, involving travel across the South West.

Ideal candidates have hydraulic/pneumatic system experience, NVQ Level 3, a valid UK driving licence, and 3–5 years in similar roles. Strong literacy and numeracy, plus customer-facing skills, are essential.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Full UK driving licence held for at least 3 years.
• 3–5 years' service/engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs on customer sites and in the workshop.
• Assemble hydraulic and pneumatic systems per drawings and specifications.
• Test completed systems to ensure they meet operating criteria before delivery.
• Install and commission hydraulic and pneumatic systems at customer premises, independently or as part of a team.
• Fault‑finding and diagnosis on complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems, often with limited information.
• Diagnose, inspect and repair hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders/pumps/motors.
• Manufacture and install pipework for high‑pressure systems.
• Attend breakdowns, including overtime and weekend work when required.
• Maintain records and reports relating to work undertaken.
• Observe and comply with Health and Safety policies.
