Pertemps South Wales in Bristol is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, maintain and repair diesel generators across the South West. You will work at customer sites, diagnose faults and perform planned maintenance to the highest standards.

The role requires a mechanical or electrical qualification (or relevant apprenticeship), a full UK driving licence, and strong fault-finding skills. You’ll join a team with training, progression and a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a relevant apprenticeship.
• Experience servicing and repairing diesel generators, preferably FG Wilson or Cummins.
• Full UK driving licence; strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing and maintenance of diesel generators.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs on customer and rental equipment.
• Attend customer sites to resolve breakdowns and technical issues.

This full-time, permanent Field Service Engineer position covers Bristol and the South West, paying £40,000 annually plus overtime. The successful candidate maintains, services and repairs diesel-powered generators and related power equipment at customer sites, diagnosing faults and completing planned maintenance to agreed standards. Applicants should hold relevant mechanical or electrical qualifications, demonstrate strong fault-finding abilities, and work independently while managing their own diary. Prior experience with generators or similar machinery proves advantageous. About the Role:

We are recruiting for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join an established business providing power and generator solutions across a range of industries. You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing diesel generators, working on both customer-owned equipment and rental fleet. The role involves regular customer interaction, site visits and working closely with the wider service team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned servicing and maintenance of diesel generators.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs on customer and rental equipment.
• Attend customer sites to resolve breakdowns and technical issues.
• Carry out site surveys when required.
• Participate in an on-call rota.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety.
• Complete work in line with relevant company procedures and quality standards.
• Keep company vehicles, tools and work areas clean and well maintained.

About You:

• Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting or Plant Maintenance, or a relevant apprenticeship.
• Proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets, ideally FG Wilson, Cummins or similar.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Previous field service experience would be advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• ECS, CSCS or CCNSG card would be advantageous but is not essential.

Overtime:

Overtime is available, with enhanced rates including time and a half and double time , depending on the hours and days worked.
