Job summary

Matthew Algie & Company Limited is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain and repair coffee equipment across customer accounts in the UK. The role offers full-time, permanent employment with daytime hours and weekend rota coverage.

You will join a supportive technical team, receive full training, and work with a range of coffee equipment. A dedicated service vehicle is provided along with pension and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Essential you have at least one year of experience as a Field Service Engineer dealing with coffee equipment.
• Proven track record in a customer-facing service environment.
• Demonstrates ability to understand and follow technical diagrams and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair coffee equipment across customer accounts.
• Plan and execute maintenance with autonomy while meeting safety and legislative requirements.
• Monitor spare parts usage and support First Time Fix KPI.
• Attend calls independently with team support and ongoing training as required.

Position Details

Position: Field Service Engineer

Location: Seeking talented individuals across the UK

Job Type: Full time, Permanent. Monday to Friday, daytime only + weekend cover on rota

Salary: £35,000 to £37,000 per annum DOE, plus 13 guaranteed weekends OT (1 in 4 – approximately additional 10%, paid regardless of callouts), + performance based bonuses

Purpose of Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be the face of our business to install, maintain and repair coffee equipment across our broad portfolio of customer accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Each day will be different, with a mix of planned maintenance plus reactive calls for machine malfunctions and breakdowns. After your full training is provided, you will have the support of our Technical Team to schedule your day with a good amount of autonomy over your jobs. We have a realistic approach to the number of jobs assigned to you each day, allowing you the time to ensure that you meet all current safety and legislative regulations and satisfy customer requirements. You will aim to ensure that all fault calls are attended to promptly, in the most efficient way, in the most cost‑effective manner, and to customer requirements.

It will be your responsibility to monitor part usage to ensure spares are kept at the levels as laid out in the company policy to ensure our “First Time Fix” KPI is met. Parts allocation will be unique to your patch and machines you will encounter, and will be replenished via a buy box system.

Day‑to‑day, you will attend calls individually, but with the support of an experienced team around you only a call away if you need support on a job. Ongoing training will be provided as and when required.

Experience & Qualifications

It is essential that you have at least one year of experience as a Field Service Engineer dealing with coffee equipment. You should have a proven track record of success within a customer‑facing service environment.

Preferred Skills / Knowledge

• City & Guilds or equivalent certificate in Electrical/Mechanical (or equivalent workplace experience)
• Excellent customer communication and customer service skills
• Ability to understand technical diagrams and manuals
• Track record of meeting or exceeding KPIs
• Full driving license
