Job summary

Astute is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service and maintain large CNC and manual milling machinery at customer sites across the UK from Brighouse. You will install, fault-diagnose, and align equipment, performing precision adjustments and gearbox/machining head assembly as required.

The role requires strong mechanical fitting skills, experience with machine tool alignment, reading drawings, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship preferred.
• NVQ or higher qualification in an engineering discipline preferred.
• Proven experience with large CNC and manual milling machinery.
• Strong mechanical fitting and machine tool fault diagnosis skills.
• Experience with machine tool alignment and precision engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical diagrams.
• Basic electrical and hydraulic fault-finding knowledge.
• Good computing skills including Microsoft Office.
• Full UK driving licence (clean preferred).

Responsibilities

• Install, service and maintain CNC and manual machine tools at customer sites across the UK.
• Carry out mechanical fitting, fault diagnosis and repair work on milling and machine tool equipment.
• Perform machine tool alignment and precision adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct gearbox and machining head assembly, including correct setting of bevel gear meshing.
• Carry out hand scraping for geometrical adjustment where required.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and implement effective repairs.
• Ensure all work complies with company health and safety standards.
• Represent the company professionally while working on customer sites.
• Identify potential opportunities for additional service work, spare parts, or service contracts.
