The Opportunity
In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
We are recruiting for a Capital Equipment Service Engineer (UK) to be responsible for installs, upgrades, repairs and preventative maintenance of all legacy St. Jude Medical capital equipment in compliance with all Company, Quality & Regulatory policies and standards.
Role Overview
The Capital Equipment Service Engineer will handle the installation, upgrading, repair, and preventive maintenance of capital equipment within Abbott’s medical product portfolio. This role is crucial for supporting Abbott’s advanced medical technologies and ensuring customer satisfaction through service excellence. The engineer will work closely with the central dispatch team for scheduling service activities and collaborate with local sales and clinical staff to boost revenues and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
The Capital Equipment Service Engineer will cover hospitals nationally and sometimes internationally, supporting hardware/software field interventions, including system installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of capital equipment sold, placed on consignment or used as demo.
Working with EMEA Capital Equipment Service team members and local sales/clinical staff on the optimal scheduling of field interventions, you will also ensure accurate documentation of these interventions and any capital equipment incidents in line with QA procedures.
Hardware/Software Field Support: Includes system installation, maintenance, calibration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and repair, as well as demo system maintenance and preparation for congresses.
Scheduling: Coordinate with the central dispatch team and local sales/clinical staff for optimal scheduling of field interventions.
Technical Assistance: Provide support and technical assistance for in-house training courses and congresses.
Training: Offer system maintenance and troubleshooting training to customer biomedical engineering departments and Abbott sales and field clinical staff.
Required Qualifications/Experience
Experience in medical electronics service or a related field.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in electronic and mechanical troubleshooting.
Ability to occasionally lift products (up to 25kg) and materials related to system installations.
Familiarity with Cathlab and operating room procedures and protocols is a plus.
Experience with medical devices and software-based medical systems is advantageous.
