Job summary

Pertemps Bond is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, maintain and repair diesel generators across customer sites and rental fleets. Based in Bristol, you will work with a dedicated service team to minimise downtime and support customers with on-site visits.

You will carry out planned servicing, fault diagnostics, and repairs, while complying with health and safety standards. A relevant engineering qualification and a UK driving licence are essential, with on-call rotas and overtime

Qualifications

• Qualified in mechanical or electrical engineering or diesel fitting, or relevant apprenticeship.
• Experience servicing and repairing diesel generators (FG Wilson / Cummins preferred).
• Full UK driving license.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing and maintenance of diesel generators.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs on customer and rental equipment.
• Attend customer sites to resolve breakdowns and technical issues.
• Carry out site surveys when required.
• Participate in an on-call rota.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety.
• Complete work in line with relevant company procedures and quality standards.
• Keep company vehicles, tools and work areas clean and well maintained.

Salary: £40,000 per annum +OT

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join an established business providing power and generator solutions across a range of industries.

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing diesel generators, working on both customer-owned equipment and rental fleet. The role involves regular customer interaction, site visits and working closely with the wider service team.

About You

• Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting or Plant Maintenance, or a relevant apprenticeship.
• Proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets, ideally FG Wilson, Cummins or similar.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Previous field service experience would be advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
• ECS, CSCS or CCNSG card would be advantageous but is not essential.

Overtime

Overtime is available, with enhanced rates including time and a half and double time, depending on the hours and days worked.
