Job summary

Aspion Search is recruiting a Field Service Engineer to join a well established electrical engineering company based in Liverpool. The role involves servicing switchgear, complex protection relays, and travelling across the UK with overseas assignments.

You will inspect, test and upgrade switchgear, produce reports, and provide technical support to customers. A driving licence and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering qualification to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent.
• Ideally, an Electrical Apprenticeship.
• Experience in field service roles and servicing / fault finding on switchgear.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical switchgear and related equipment.
• Undertake protection relay testing, fault finding and upgrades.
• Investigate switchgear breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs.
• Deliver switchgear upgrades and life extension projects.
• Prepare risk assessments and method statements for projects.
• Provide technical support and quotations for service work.
• Complete technical reports and service documentation.
• Maintain safety standards at client sites and in-house.

Field Service Engineer

Liverpool
£35,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience

Aspion Search is recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join a well established Electrical engineering company based in Liverpool.

They work with major blue chip clients across the industrial and commercial sectors.

This is an opportunity for an Electrically qualified Engineer with switchgear and complex protection relay experience to work on varied projects across the UK, with opportunities for overseas assignments.

Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer

• Carry out servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical switchgear and associated equipment.
• Undertake complex protection relay testing, fault finding and upgrades.
• Investigate switchgear breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs.
• Deliver switchgear upgrades and life extension projects.
• Prepare project-specific risk assessments and method statements.
• Provide technical support and advice to customers, assisting with quotations for service work.
• Complete accurate technical reports and service documentation.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety at company premises and customer sites.
• Participate in out-of-hours call-outs when required.

Requirements of the Field Service Engineer

• Electrical Engineering qualification to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent
• Ideally, a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship
• At least 2 years experience in a Field Service Engineer role
• Previous experience servicing, maintaining and fault finding on Electrical switchgear
• Experience working with complex protection relays, including testing and fault diagnosis
• Ability to work independently, solve technical problems and manage changing priorities
• Experience producing technical reports and using Microsoft Office
• Passport and Full UK Driving Licence
• Happy to travel to customer sites across the UK and overseas and stay away when required
