Job summary

Bradshaw Electric Vehicles, Ltd. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover home base areas including Bolton, Preston, Blackburn or North Manchester, with nationwide travel from Peterborough’s production hub.

The role demands hands-on maintenance, diagnostics and customer liaison to keep fleets on the road. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years’ experience, strong electrical skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Qualified and time-served engineer with 3–5 years' experience in automotive, forklift, agriculture, HGV or LGV.
• Strong electrical knowledge and ability to diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Experience with traction batteries preferred (training provided).
• Able to work independently and in a team; good time management.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnose breakdowns and provide technical assistance.
• Liaise with customers and the service desk; discuss tasks.
• Plan and travel to sites; manage remedial works and progress updates.
• Update jobs via PDA/Laptop while on site.

Field Service Engineer – Home base area - Bolton, Preston, Blackburn or North Manchester area.

Since 1976 Bradshaw EV have designed and manufactured electric tow tractors, load carriers and bespoke vehicle solutions from our production site just outside Peterborough. Across the last 4 decades we are proud to have supplied equipment to all sectors across the UK & Europe from manufacturing to hospitality, sports arenas and the NHS with an output of over 2000 vehicles annually across our sales and hire divisions.

We are the UK distributors for Club car, Goupil/ Polaris, Taylor-Dunn and are proud to still be a family owned and run company.

A typical day for a Bradshaw engineer

The typical day for our engineers will be varied, from carrying out planned preventative maintenance, to quoted repairs, diagnosing a breakdown or providing technical assistance and bespoke work. No two days at Bradshaw will be the same, the role will suit individuals who enjoy problem solving and going the extra mile to get the customer back on the road.

Our engineers operate from home and daily workload will be dependent on-site location and the specific job that day brings, our team of engineers are based around our main factory location of Peterborough and travel nationwide to assist our customers.

Typical day:

• Sending and receiving jobs via PDA / Laptop
• Gauging travel time to site and planning the following days work.
• Carrying out Planned maintenance, breakdown support, Quoted repair work
• Liaising with customer and discussing the task at hand
• Discussing work progress with the service desk and managing remedial works
• Working both independently & in teams when workload requires
• Communicating with other engineers to assist the team with technical advice and guidance.

The applicant

Bradshaw’s are seeking a motivated and proactive individual who is looking to build a career in the electric industrial vehicle sector, the ideal candidate will:

• Qualified & time served engineer from either an automotive or plant background the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience the role would suit someone from a forklift/ agriculture / HGV or LGV background.
• Strong electrical knowledge Can BUS, diagnosing electrical faults, using diagnostic equipment (Training provided)
• Knowledge or working with traction batteries (Training provided)
• Ability to work under your own initiative to solve problems
• Happy to work independently and in a team
• Well organised individual with excellent time management
• Willing to learn and progress with the company.
• You are required to provide your own Hand Tools common to the trade, all specific tools and heavy equipment including electrical tools provided by BEV.
