Job summary

Bolt is hiring a Field Service Engineer to join its UK field service team. You will service and maintain food processing and packaging machinery across the North West region, with regionally focused assignments and minimal nights away from home.

The role operates Monday to Friday, with optional overtime and no weekend work. A competitive salary (£45,000 base with OTE ≈ £65,000), company car, and private medical insurance are included.

Qualifications

• Qualified multi-skilled engineer with FMCG/food production exposure.
• Electro-mechanical background with practical maintenance experience.
• Good knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and motor control systems.
• Familiar with PLCs and ladder logic is advantageous.
• Full, valid UK driving licence and customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, repair, and maintain food processing equipment.
• Ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation of plant machinery.
• Provide on-site technical support and customer service.
• Maintain accurate service, maintenance, and repair records.

Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Location: North West Region - Liverpoool and surrounding

Salary: £45,000 per annum + Door to Door Pay + Overtime and Enhancements - OTE of c£65,000 per annum + Company Car

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm + Optional Overtime - no weekend work or night shifts.

Bolt Technical are hiring on behalf of our client, a leading global FMCG business, for a hands-on Field Service Engineer to join its growing field service engineering team of 30 in the UK.

You'll play a key role in delivering technical excellence and ensuring that equipment performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction are consistently upheld.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, repair, and maintain food processing and packaging machinery.
• Ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably at all times.
• Provide on-site support and technical expertise to customers.
• Maintain accurate records of service, maintenance, and repairs.
• Work autonomously across a regional customer base while collaborating with the wider technical team.

What They’re Looking For

• Qualified multi-skilled engineer with experience in the FMCG or food production sectors
• Electro-mechanical background (apprenticeship or equivalent) preferred
• Strong knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and motor control systems
• Experience with PLCs and Ladder Logic is advantageous
• Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation
• Full, valid UK driving licence required
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused, 'can-do' attitude
