About The Role

We are seeking a Field Service Engineer based at our Warrington Depot, covering Wigan, North Manchester, and Lancashire.

The primary focus is to deliver exceptional service to internal and external customers, actively identify revenue opportunities, and discuss these with customers, Customer Support Representatives, and your Line Manager.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Service and repair Volvo construction and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using technical knowledge and computerized diagnostics, providing guidance to customers.
  • Seek additional service revenue opportunities and promote aftermarket solutions.
  • Follow quotations and time guidelines, alerting management to potential additional work.
  • Ensure software updates are installed promptly.
  • Complete electronic reports, tablet inputs, and timesheets in real-time with detailed work descriptions.
  • Order and return parts as needed, maintaining cleanliness and timeliness.
  • Work overtime and respond to call-out requests as required.
  • Attend relevant training courses for product or system updates.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

  • Formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics, or related (NVQ 3/C&G).
  • Experience in repairing heavy construction equipment, with proven skills in diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrics.
  • Advanced diagnostic skills and understanding of hydraulics, electrics, and EATS.
  • Effective communication with colleagues, management, and customers.
  • Cost-conscious approach to maximize profitability.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Outlook.
  • High attention to detail, responsibility, reliability, honesty, and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to understand technical literature and systems.

Desirable

  • Experience in Welding and Fabrication.
