Proactive Global is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its UK service team. The role involves hands-on work with electro-mechanical and mechatronic systems, performing maintenance, fault-finding and commissioning across customer sites in the Birmingham–London corridor.

The ideal candidate will have a strong electro-mechanical background, appropriate electrical qualifications, and be willing to travel regularly, including overnight stays. A UK driving licence is essential.

Field Service Engineer

Salary: £45,000 + Company Car + Benefits

We're currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join the UK service team of a well-established international organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong electro-mechanical or mechatronics background to join a growing business, offering a competitive package, ongoing training and a varied, hands‑on role.

Location & Travel

Birmingham- London area

You'll be travelling regularly to customer sites. The majority of projects are located along the A1 corridor between Birmingham and London, with regular travel and occasional overnight stays required.

The Role

Reporting to the Service Manager, you'll be responsible for carrying out technical interventions, maintenance, inspections and commissioning activities across customer sites. You'll work with automated equipment and shuttle-based systems, supporting installations that operate using bi-directional movement.

This role requires a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems. While mechanical expertise is important, candidates must also demonstrate solid electrical and electro‑mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.

The position offers a high level of autonomy, regular customer interaction and the opportunity to take ownership of your work.

Important: Candidates with purely mechanical experience are unlikely to be suitable. We are particularly interested in engineers who can confidently diagnose and resolve electrical and electro‑mechanical faults.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in field service engineering, industrial maintenance, automation or technical installations.
• Strong electro‑mechanical expertise and/or a mechatronics background.
• Good electrical and mechanical fault‑finding skills.
• Experience working with automated equipment or shuttle‑based systems would be advantageous.
• A relevant technical qualification in electrical engineering, electromechanics, mechatronics, industrial maintenance or a related discipline.
• Appropriate electrical safety qualifications or authorisations.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to travel regularly to customer sites, including overnight stays when required.
